Commercial waste collection in the North East
Business waste works best when containers, collection frequency and segregation match the way your premises operate. Business bins and collection schedules
A small office, a busy restaurant and a warehouse do not need the same waste contract. Tell us how many people use the site, where waste is produced and how full the existing bins are before collection. We can discuss suitable containers, separate recycling streams and collection frequencies rather than assuming that more collections are always better.
Access matters as much as capacity. We check bin storage space, access restrictions, collection windows and whether a landlord already provides some of your waste services. Multi-site enquiries can be considered with a clear list of premises and current arrangements.
Simpler Recycling for workplaces in England
Workplaces in scope must separate food waste, dry recyclable materials and residual waste before collection. The rules took effect on 31 March 2025; micro-firms with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent employees have until 31 March 2027. The employee count applies across the business, not just an individual site.
Paper and card normally need to be collected separately from other dry recyclables unless the collector has the required written co-collection assessment. We discuss the receiving operator's arrangements so that bin labels and collection instructions match the actual service. A mixed waste bin is not a substitute for required separation.
Commercial waste costs and reporting
Pricing depends on waste type, bin size, collection frequency, weight allowances, access and contract terms. Ask us to review an existing invoice or service schedule with personal and payment information removed. We explain the proposed scope, contamination charges, excess-weight terms and any agreed hire charges before you accept.
Every waste collection job gets a waste transfer note, and every commercial customer gets a monthly waste report every month. Keep your own duty-of-care records and check any additional requirements for specialist waste. A free GRIDCO Waste MOT can help identify unsuitable bins, missed recycling opportunities and service overlap; savings are not guaranteed.

Commercial waste collection FAQs
Can you arrange regular trade waste bins?
Yes. GRIDCO can seek suitable partner-operated bin collections based on your postcode, waste streams, storage space and preferred collection frequency. The service and start date are confirmed in the quote.
Do small businesses need separate food waste collections?
Workplaces covered by England's Simpler Recycling rules must separate food waste even if they produce very little. Micro-firms with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent employees have a temporary exemption until 31 March 2027.
Can I use my household bin for business waste?
Waste from a commercial activity is business waste, including the business part of a home-based operation. Do not assume a household collection accepts it; arrange a lawful business waste route.
Will I receive a monthly waste report?
Yes. Every commercial customer receives a waste report every month, alongside the waste transfer note provided for every collection job.
